Review: The Holy Grail

With a cast so full of talent, I must single out Lizz Reeves Fidler as Lady of the Lake. Why she is not on Broadway is anybody’s guess, but she has a fantastic voice and we are lucky to have her.

It is one of the strongest ensemble groups I have seen in quite some time. Not one person was weak… This show is expertly directed by David J. Hemphill with musical direction by Reynaldo Saenz. The music was tight and it was as if the dancers and music were one.

What we have here is an entertaining, fast moving well-sung and most welcome evening of musical nostalgia in Smokey Joe’s Café. Reeves is both an incredible singer and fabulous comedienne. Her Fools Fall in Love is pure magic.

Interview: A Night in the 40’s’ celebrates WWII era music

The Kathy Donald Jazz Ensemble takes the stage for a “WW II Musical Show.” One of the highlights, Donald said, comes when she and two other singers perform some of the Andrews Sisters’ biggest hits, including “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Rum and Coca Cola.”

Interview: He sings like nobody’s business

The director placed Jeffrey J. Davey (Tateh) and Lizz Reeves Fidler (Mother) in the other two leads. “They are all amazing,” Helland said, though his praise didn’t end with the leading actors. “It has the most powerful vocals and incredible music of any show I’ve done,” the 30-year theater veteran said. “It’s a powerhouse.”

Interview: ‘Ragtime’ gets new twist at Scottsdale theater

“It deals with the human condition,” said Lizz Reeves Fidler , who plays the part of Mother. “It deals with, unfortunately, things that will probably never go away.”

With a Broadway revival of “Ragtime” opening in mid-November, Desert Stages’ production will be one of the last regional productions of the show for a few years. While a show is on Broadway, it cannot be produced nationally, Reeves said.
